Changes in the Door Business

The Phoenix construction market continues to change.  Specific to the Door & Trim business, "Lumber Products", a major distributor of doors, hardware, and related products has filed bankruptcy.  They have closed their distribution center in South Tempe and some of their assets have been purchased by an investment company.  They are said to be re-opening a distribution center in Phoenix with many of the same employees.  It is not yet known what lines they will carry, but OrePac has announced that they will be carrying the Therma-Tru line of steel and fiberglass doors formerly carried by Lumber Products.

An increase in demand due to some rebound of new homebuilding along with some market interruptions has created some instability in pricing and availability of mdf and ultralight mdf mouldings.  There have also been some shortages in hinges and some other metal products important in the door business.  Suppliers have blamed a long Chinese New Year and the Chilean earthquakes  among other disruptions for the price increases and shortages that have been seen.

I think lately fiberglass doors are becoming more popular than any other materials for it's longevity with the wonderful look. Thanks for a brief detail about it.
